NCRC Announces Call for Entries for the Community Empowerment Film Award
NCRC encourages the exploration of creative nonfiction storytelling that presents a unique point of view in creative formats from established and emerging filmmakers. Submissions can range in length from a film short to feature-length documentary. We invite a wide range of approaches to national and international topics/themes that empower communities. The Community Empowerment Film Award (CEFA) honors independent filmmakers whose work increases awareness of social and/or economic justice issues either locally or globally. Examples of creative topics include:
- An examination of a critical issue of economic justice in a particularly hard-hit area/community;
- An exploration of the following topics: neighborhood revitalization, job development, youth development, community organizing, racial injustice or discrimination, financial inclusion (to include impact of Wall Street bailout) or foreclosure epidemic in the USA;
- A biography of a community leader whose work had a significant impact on the region/community in which they worked;
To have your film considered please send a DVD of your film to the address below. Be sure to include all of your contact information so that NCRC can reach you if you are selected. Please do not send additional promotional materials with your film at this time. If selected NCRC will work with you to maximize the promotional opportunities for you and your film. Film Entries: Submissions on DVD must be clearly labeled with the Entrant’s name, film title and running time. A brief synopsis of the film and/or press kit should also be submitted with the DVD.
Films in English will be favored over foreign-language films. That said, films in other languages and are properly subtitled will be considered. Material that is 4:3 safe works best for our viewing audience.
Films submitted for consideration can be entered in three ways:
1. Viewable online at a 3rd party site like YouTube or Vimeo, FilmBox.
2. Two (2) copies of a DVD (no menus) with the aforementioned info labeled
