US Department of Housing and Urban Development: HUD AWARDS OVER $47 MILLION TO FIGHT HOUSING DISCRIMINATION

US Department of Housing and Urban Development, September 2, 2021, HUD Awards Over $47 Million to Fight Housing Discrimination

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development – through the Fair Housing Initiatives Program (FHIP) – has awarded $47.4 million to several organizations working in the fair housing issue-area.

$34 million has been allocated to the Private Enforcement Initiative (PEI), which awards organizations that  advocate for those whose complaints fall under the Fair Housing Act. Of the remaining funds, $10 million has been set aside for the Education and Outreach Initiative (EOI), which is given to organizations that seek to educate the public and housing providers on fair housing through various programs.

Through these two initiatives, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition is expected to receive $375,000 and $499,636 respectively.
